How your WhatsApp can be hacked
The weakest link in any system is the user. I call this human vulnerability.
The tops hackers will be people with social engineering skills. Having technical skills is no longer a barrier for these hackers.
If you have lost access to your WhatsApp account or suspect someone else is using your account this article is for you.
How to avoid being hacked.
- Don’t send anyone your verification code also known as OTP(one-time-password). Don’t send any code you receive via your phone to anyone.
That is the easiest way anyone can take over your account.
When you are setting up your Whatsapp account, a verification code is always sent to you. If another user does the same with their phone they will be required to input the OTP, once they successfully authenticate they will have full access to your account.
2. Enable two-step verification to enhance the security of your account.
I can’t stress this enough. All your digital footprint should have a two-step verification or two-factor authentication enabled then chose a 6-digit PIN.
3. Don’t use applications which require access to your WhatsApp account
4. Be very careful while installing applications from third party sources.
5. Check-in WhatsApp Web option and confirm if there is any device connected where your WhatsApp account is being operated. If you have found an unknown device instantly log out from there. Log out properly if using WhatApp Web Feature.
6. Never Use Third-Party Modified WhatApp apps
